About LRPA
Our History
Little Rock Preparatory Academy was founded through the Building Excellent Schools Fellowship Program. Latoya Goree, the lead founder and Head of School, joined the fellowship in September 2007 to establish this school for students and families of Little Rock, AR. “The Fellowship - an aggregation of lessons learned in the movement - raises the quality of urban charter schools in the United States by helping entrepreneurial individuals design, build and maintain excellent schools in underserved communities while building partnerships and networks of support. The Fellowship guides participants to apply the beliefs, structural and cultural elements, and organizational practices that have led the nation's highest-performing urban charter schools to success. A school that opens its doors grounded in these core beliefs, practices, and know-how can more efficiently navigate the day-to-day challenges of running a school, and focus attention on increased student achievement (www.buildingexcellentschools.org)."
The Founding Board of Little Rock Prep transitioned into the Board of Trustees upon charter approval by the Arkansas State Board of Education on November 4, 2008. The Board of Trustees is a diverse, passionate group of committed citizens who have dedicated their experience and credibility to this project.
